The model is the Medicine Buddha of Tibet and China, reaching Siam by way of Khmer castings; Thai evidence runs from Sukhothai onward. The lineages the trade collects are Rattanakosin: Wat Bowon's Phra Kring Pawaret and Wat Suthat's castings under Somdet Phra Sangkharat Pae, with a Phitsanulok Wat Wang Chan group (the Naresuan series) alongside. Nawaloha is a nine-metal alloy — gold, silver, copper, bronze, tin, zinc, lead, mercury and pewter are the ones named. The trade holds that the chime is used when blessing water and links the kind to healing and vitality, which is the Bhaisajyaguru dedication carried into Thai practice.
