The garuda is Vishnu's mount and the emblem of the Thai state, which is why the same bird sits on a passport and on a pendant. In the trade it is sold for commanding presence, for commerce that moves, and — the claim listings repeat most — for warding off black magic and curses. The vault places it with Wessuwan and Rahu: a deva venerated through the object, owed respect, not a raised ghost that eats. What the tradition calls the garuda's power is authority; the keeper borrows the bird's rank.
