Thai Wikipedia places it in the Mahayana and Mantrayana current of the late Lopburi period, with the primary cache at Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat. The cache opened first around B.E. 2450 and again around B.E. 2508, so the trade speaks of an old cache and a new one, and examples surfaced in several other provinces. The attributed powers are invulnerability and loving-kindness.
