A pendant of one of eight Buddhas and bodhisattvas, chosen by the wearer's Chinese zodiac year. The eight-figure set is Japanese Shingon practice, sold today as jewellery across China and Vietnam and, thinly, in Thailand under 'Chinese zodiac birth-year Buddha'. It is not the Thai weekday birthday Buddha.

Japanese esoteric Buddhism assigns eight guardian figures to the twelve branches. China took the set over as the 本命佛 'natal Buddha' and Vietnam as Phật bản mệnh; Chinese Wikipedia records that the pairing appears in no scripture, and that Tibetan-style sellers swap four of the figures. Today it is a retail pendant in jade, obsidian or silver, sold with a card giving the zodiac table. On Lazada Thailand one listing offers the set as 'Buddha of the 12 signs, Chinese zodiac, 8 bodhisattvas'.
