The lore puts it in caves under the guard of devas, forest spirits, naga or giants; only merit or wichaa lets a person take it, and the harvest is done with honey smeared nearby and fire played on the mass until it stretches to the honey as a thread and parts. Near its keeper, the belief goes, blades, guns and gunpowder fail. Thai Wikipedia grades it — the metal, its 'nest', its 'residue' — names varieties by colour, dates the dictionary entry to B.E. 2525, and then explains the samples as low-melting metals or alloys, meteorite or silicate, with the rainbow sheen as thin-film interference. Both halves belong in the record.
