The alchemical ball of the Burmese weikza tradition: mercury or iron fired through the stages until it is held to be finished. Carried for invulnerability and long life, and for the adept a step toward becoming a weikza. The Burmese counterpart of Thai lek lai — but lek lai is fetched from a cave and a dat-lone is made in a fire.

The mercury-path weikza study transmutation, producing gold and silver from common metals; the finished ball is the dat-lone. The tradition holds that the accomplished adept keeps or swallows the ball and does not die as others do, but withdraws to wait for Maitreya — which is how many Burmese speak of Bo Bo Aung and Bo Min Gaung today. Six paths are named in the Burmese article: mercury, iron, medicine, in, mantra and the spirit-infused blade.
